Recent projects

Below are some of Mark Skelsey's recent projects before he founded StoryPower.


Project 1

CeBIT Australia 2016
Co-ordinated the NSW Government's involvement in CeBIT Australia 2016 – the biggest business technology event in the Asia-Pacific. This included preparing an overall strategy to guide the event.
Oversaw exhibition of 22 NSW companies over two stands and all marketing, sponsorship and media aspects of the event.  NSW Government was the official partner for the event.
Prepared two videos to outline Ministerial involvement in this event, along with a major marketing video about the State’s ICT industry which was showed at the opening session.

Project 2

Boao Forum for Asia Sydney

Successfully ran the media and communications components of a major international media event – the Boao Forum for Asia Sydney. The NSW Government was the official host for this Asian economic co-operation event, which attracted 400 delegates including the Australian Prime Minister and Governor of the Reserve Bank.

More than 100 journalists from 40 media outlets attended the conference, which required a United Nations-standard media room (see photo below right) with translation and video screen equipment.


Organised a sponsorship with CNN which, along with other media attention from a media familiarisation tour, delivered some $1 million in coverage for NSW in Asia. Also produced a television commercial which promoted the event in Asia and an opening marketing video.

Four Points by Sheraton redevelopment

On behalf of my employer Kathy Jones and Associates, implemented a communications strategy for the redevelopment of Australia’s largest hotel, the Four Points by Sheraton.


This strategy planned for the regular night-time shutdowns of the Sydney CBD’s Western Distributor roadway needed to build the extension.


Communications collateral developed to advise motorists, pedestrians and CBD residents included media releases, newspaper advertisements, leaflets and a website.

Pacific 2015

Prepared a communication strategy to help promote NSW's defence industry as part of Pacific 2015, a major maritime show held in Sydney.

This included preparing media releases and material and promoting the State's stand in a video.
